" 'A' is for Apathy."

I'm growing numb to the idea of flight and letting go of what the world calls "security." I've played protector, warrior, (switch) advocate of peace.  I've wished for some to die and begged for some to live.  I'm becoming apathetic towards a growing number of so- called "humans."  So for now, for right now..." 'A' IS FOR APATHY."

This morning i woke up tired from all of the running around for the photo shoot of the new t-shirt Josh McCullock (joshmccullockphotography.com) did for me!    I really appreciate Josh taking the time out of his busy schedule to put that together.  The goal is to use the images he took for promotional material for new merchandise and for itemizing product on what will be my new online store at bigcartel.com.  I had 5 models come out....Harlee, Bryson, Jay, Cameela and Cody.  I could not have asked for better models to shoot this stuff.  They were totally in to it and I think really enjoyed getting to do something out of the norm.  Again, thanks to everyone who helped out and thanks to my lovely girlfriend Samantha for always being around to help keep me organized!  Now it's time to get up and start the day so I can get my check list for the day done!

So this week of unemployment boredom has really stacked up to be a productive week.  I have gotten more done with projects I have not had time to work on than I have in the past 6 months.  I have several options and job possibilities but I, foolishly seem to be holding out for just the right one.  I would like to just make my art full time but I don't quite have the system in place to do that.  My ultimate dream is to have an artist CoOp were multiple artists share a creative space and feed off of each other to surround themselves in a productive work environment.  I would love to run a space like that while including artists, freelance designers and a space for showings.  What is more,  I think that I actually have the means to make all of that work, it just takes a few very important particulars to fall in to perfect alignment; and that is where I begin to hope that the God I try to know can step in front and begin to spread the curtains of "impossible."'

Just wanted to share with you all a really great folk/indie/rock band named "Olina" that is, in my opinion the best local band in Oklahoma City!  They are doing some really great stuff, writing some really great music and will be out with a new album soon!  Until then check them out at myspace.com/olinatheband and be sure to come out and see them Saturday night at Galileo in the Paseo.  Show starts at 9pm.  You won't be dissapointed!

So I am  really excited about a possible position at the Science museum doing online network updating!  I think I find out soon if I get the opportunity.  Working with the David, the bronze sculptor has been great, but the economy is slowing down so much I have to have a secondary source of income.  I have learned a lot working for him.   I guess on to new horizons!

I wanted to share this photo that I love of my grandpa, Jack W. Smith,  at age 13.   He is such a great man of character and I still today see this same little boy in his face. I think that is why I love it so much.  It is a great reminder that you grow old and grow up but you can still hold on to those child-like qualities that make life simple and light-hearted.  Love you paw paw!

So I took a little drive to Guymon, my home town and the location of my parents, to hang out for the weekend.  My uncle and little (I believe he is 9) cousin Christopher are visiting from Midland Tx.  to hang out and take care of some business.  This is my uncle Dave who is my dad's younger brother and who is also part of the reason I am doing art.  Once upon a time he gave me a collection of "Draw 50" books that fueled the fire.  I thought more on the way home about an idea I have wanted to do that is a series of drawings of symbols that have seemed to find their way into my life.  Instead of simply drawing them I would do a series of progressive drawings as if to show how to draw the image step-by-step, just as in the Draw 50 books.  I plan on dabbling with that more later.  Anyway, I also had time to think a lot about future plans to start an Art Collaborative space and of doing a lead sculpture of 2-dimensional mixed media piece I did a few years ago called "Hope is for the Birds."  It is nice to have ideas continually flowing.  It would be even better if I had time to actually execute them.  Soon and very soon.  Here' s an image of the piece I just mentioned.  Anyway, Christopher is such a creative kid so I am looking forward to spending time with him.  Maybe I can be to him what his dad is to me.

NEW SHIRT DESIGN!

So with the help of my good friend Dylan Bradway, I have come up with a modified version of my logo that will be printed on shirts and out within the next couple of weeks at Blue 7 at May and Grande and DNA Galleries on 16th and Classen in the Plaza District.   The image will be printed on American Apparel tri-orchid, tri-evergreen, seafoam and heather grey deep v and on light blue and slate scarfs.  I am excited to get this new image out and soon after will have the updates to my website and my new store started up at bigcartel.com!  Don't forget to check out new work added to my website form the Mainsite show at jerrodcreates.com.

Showing at DNA Galleries!

So my good friends Dylan and Amanda Bradway asked if I would have work at their space DNA Galleries for the monthly walk in the Plaza District.  I hope lots of people come out to support them.  The work I am showing is large prints of older pieces so this is your chance to get work for a great price.  See you all there!
